June 2008 Researchers of the Month - Isobel Findlay and Maria Basualdo

Findlay (left) is an associate professor, Management and Marketing, Edwards School of Business; Scholar, Centre for the Study of Co-operatives; and Academic Director, Community University Institute for Social Research, University of Saskatchewan. An associate member of the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers, she is committed to interdisciplinary and collaborative research and publishes widely on Aboriginal and associative organizations, Indigenous women's community economic development, law and culture, and business communications.

Maria Basualdo (right) works for Community University Institute for Social Research as Policy Entrepreneur for the quality of life module and also as community research liaison. She has a degree in Political Sciences and an MA in Political Studies and has been involved with community work and research for a number of years. Her community work focuses on women’s issues, immigrant’s issues, as well as cultural issues. Her position as a policy entrepreneur is taking her to work with a multi-sectoral group to develop a plan for poverty elimination in Saskatoon.

In addition, their community partner is Marie Prebushewski, who is the Executive Director of the Thickwood Hills Business and Learning Centre.
