An Opportunity to Meet with Yves Vaillancourt in Victoria, BC

vaillancourtThe Canadian Social Economy Hub and the Canadian Community Economic Development Network are pleased to be hosting two upcoming events featuring Dr. Yves Vaillancourt of the University of Québec in Montréal.

On March 8th, Dr. Vaillancourt will be presenting a talk titled The Social Economy: An Experiment with Community Activation in Québec at the University of Victoria from 3 pm to 4:30 pm in Room 110 of the Harry Hickman Building (please click here for a map).

The next day, March 9th, Dr. Vaillancourt will present a lecture on the similarities and differences between Community Economic Development, Social Enterprise, and the Social Economy. This will take place as a brown bag lunch, with coffee and tea provided, from 12 noon to 1:30 pm at the Victoria location of the Canadian Community Economic Development Network, in Room 211 of 620 View Street (please click here for a map). vail2As a professor of social work at the University of Québec in Montréal, Dr. Yves Vaillancourt has collaborated extensively with academics around the globe. His contributions to research on the social economy include his role as the founding editor of the journal Nouvelles Pratiques Sociales, and the director of the LAREPPS (Laboratoire de recherche sur les pratiques et les politiques sociales) research project. Dr. Vaillancourt has authored as well as edited several books on subjects related to public policy, economic development, and social trends. Currently, he is involved with the Community-University Research Alliance (CURA) on the Social Economy, based at UQAM, and the Centre de recherche sur les innovations sociales (CRISES), an interuniversity and multidisciplinary research centre that analyzes innovation and social change.
