Halton Region Issues Request for Proposals for Assisted Housing
Halton Region has issued a Request for Proposals for 120 units of assisted rental housing. Under the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation – Ontario New Affordable Housing Program Agreement, Halton Region has been allocated $8.4 million to provide capital assistance of up to $70,000 per unit for the development of these units. Halton Region will also provide grant assistance under the program. Regional Chair, Gary Carr, announced “The provision of this funding by senior orders of government is especially welcomed, as development of these units in Halton will help ease the pressure on our waiting list and increase housing options for lower income Halton households.” The 120 unit allocation includes 30 units for mental health clients and victims of domestic violence to be supported by local, non-profit community agencies.
