Sharing the Challenges and the Rewards of Converting to Co-operative Ownership

February 7, 2008 - The second guest in Co-operation and the Social Economy: The 2008 BCICS/CSEHub Winter Speaker Series was Jorge Sousa, assistant professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. Jorge presented on his work with the Atkinson Housing Co-op in Toronto, and discussed the challenges and rewards of co-operative housing development by using examples of conversion processes and new developments.

Unleashing the Power of Social Enterprise

Speaking notes for the Right Honourable Paul Martin P.C., M.P., Toronto, Ontario It is a great pleasure for me to be here with you this afternoon and a great honour to have been invited by the wonderful and formidable Janice Stein to give a lecture at the Munk Centre. Before I begin however – one exculpatory caveat! How I came to be a proponent of social enterprise, I will explain in the course of my remarks.
