February 7, 2008 - The second guest in Co-operation and the Social Economy: The 2008 BCICS/CSEHub Winter Speaker Series was Jorge Sousa, assistant professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. Jorge presented on his work with the Atkinson Housing Co-op in Toronto, and discussed the challenges and rewards of co-operative housing development by using examples of conversion processes and new developments.

How do students become engaged in studies related to the Social Economy? What support do they require? How do they access information and resources? How do they make the transition from researchers to practitioners, or vice versa? Do student researchers at social economy organizations view their work as simple employment, or as training for their future careers, or... both?
