Edmonton wants task force to deal with panhandlers

The city proposes to establish an integrated team of police officers, business associations, and social service agencies to curb the panhandling problem in Edmonton, according to a report.
The team will be responsible for increasing the presence of outreach workers from the Boyle Street Community Services and working to gain the trust of panhandlers.

2010 Applied Research Fund Program – Open for Applications

The 2010 Applied Research Fund program at the Institute for Nonprofit Studies, Mount Royal University, is now open for applications. University-based researchers in Canada are eligible to apply. A one-page letter of intent must be received on or before April 9, 2010 The deadline for full applied research application is May 10, 2010. Research priorities include governance within the nonprofit and social economy sector, sustainability of the nonprofit sector/nonprofit organizations, and policy modelling, analysis, design, and critique.
